Reindeer

Coming from Central Europe, we grew up in a society of growth, driven by global interests. Now, we increasingly ask ourselves if a society of enough could maybe help us find sustainable happiness instead. Over the past years, we have been invited to learn from people who share a profound interdependence with nature that is now challenged amidst a changing climate.

With REINDEER, we want to create a powerful, sincere documentary chronicling the journeys, struggles, and hopes of different people who each live and work with reindeer in various ways.

REINDEER is a documentary not about reindeer, but conflicts in resource usage, tradition, growth, modern-day colonialism, and power. Our story follows protagonists who try to adapt, fight for their rights, and research new concepts of harmonising human activity with nature. It raises the question of how we consume as a society and shapes a positive story of a more sustainable life.
